Mountain + Lake + River…and LIFE!

Take a hike to soak in some of nature’s most lush bounty – or ruin a good walk on one of our nearby championship golf courses. Have a hazy, lazy time fishing the incredible Fontana Lake and picnicking at our private Marina Park, or learn to fly fish or kayak on our reknown whitewater river and lunch at a mountain restaurant overlooking the action. Stay in wilderness shape in our fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, or get some different exercise boutique-hopping and lunching in town (or gallery-hopping in nearby Asheville!). Have a family reunion weekend with a guided rafting trip for the whole gang – and feel free to use the Rockledge Lodge events kitchen and outdoor grille and social center to memorably entertain them mountain-style.

ALL the options are open on a daily basis! Rockledge offers perhaps the best convergence of wilderness amenities that exist in the Eastern United States. When you arrive at the bridge in Bryson City that says BOTH “Fontana Lake” AND “Nantahala River”, you’ve arrived at Rockledge! We share our mountain with the illustrious Nantahala Outdoor Center where world champion kayakers train. Go out our back gate and you’re in the NOC world of soaring zip lines, whitewater rafting and kayaking, riverside restaurants and tennis courts and some of the best fly-fishing anywhere. What’s more, Rockledge residents enjoy full priveleges at the NOC.

We share our incredible 30 mile Fontana Lake shoreline with The Great Smoky Mountain National Park, protecting probably the most beautiful lake in North Carolina from commercial encroachment. And our trails, right at your doorstep, connect directly to the heart of The Appalachian Trail. Pursue your hobby. Pursue your passion. Pursue your life!

The Active Mountain Community

Rockledge is designed as a mountain retreat for individuals and families, deliberately lacking in the stuffiness of the typical upscale club communities. There are no club initiation fees or club dues. Rockledge attracts those looking to create a hideaway, not necessarily to be social, but to escape.

Rockledge thoughtfully blends unique residences with generous conservation areas that preserve the natural topography of the land. The private Rockledge Lodge, with its sweeping views of Fontana Lake and surrounding mountains, is the center of community life with a dressed down atmosphere of rustic elegance. The two-story marina pavilion will be a favorite late afternoon gathering place, and outdoor activities will abound with amenities including swimming, boating, hiking and biking on miles of trails.

Rockledge Amenities

With around 55 home sites planned in the 200+ acre forested development, homeowners are assured a great sense of natural privacy as well as copious common green tracts to enjoy. From the shady, creekside entrance to the private picnic park on the bluff above the Rockledge Marina – the developers have planned a lifestyle for active, environmentally conscious living. All-season roadways wind through towering hardwoods and giant rhododendrons, and both villa and estate-sized homes can be built with minimal disturbance to the land.

Rockledge on Fontana Lake LogoFontana Lake (map) is a 10,600 acre, 30 mile shoreline wilderness lake that offers limitless boating, water sports and fishing opportunities. Live in Rockledge on Fontana Lake

Our sites range from 1 to 7 acres, each very carefully plotted to fit naturally into the landscape after extensive walking of the ridgelines. And each carefully positioned, graded and minimally pruned to take full advantage of available vistas while preserving maximum privacy and harmony with the mountain and its lush foliage. Our wide, all-season roads were planned the same way.
